Visakhapatnam is a coastal, port city, often called “The Jewel of the East Coast”, situated in the of Andhra Pradesh, located on the eastern shore of India, nestled among the hills of the Eastern Ghats and facing the Bay of Bengal to the east. The world famous Galaxy Granite deposit is located in Chimakurthy, R.L.Puram, Budawada and Devarapalem villages of Chimakurthy Mandal, Prakasam District. The quarry zone lies in between 23rd to 26th KM stone on either side of Ongole - Nandyala -Kurnool State High Way road. The active quarry zone falls in Survey of India Toposheet No. 57 M/14 and lies in between the N15O35I15II - 15O35I20II North latitude and 79O48I20II - 79O50I35II East longitudes.
Black Galaxy Granite is located in a Chimakurthy village in the Ongole district of Andhra Pradesh. Indian granite, “Black Galaxy” has been shining brightly for over 35 years upto now. Black Galaxy Granite is also called Star Galaxy, Galaxy granite, and Gold Star Granite. Its reputation as being more durable and stronger than regular granite has been enormous, with about 10 million cubic meters of the material ever sold.
